Bell Ringing
Now that the bells are installed in our tower the bells can be rung for everyone to enjoy. The first ring of the bells was for the Thanksgiving Service when around 90 visitors were able to hear the bells. A local band from Otley rang them for the first time as part of the service.
The first Quarter Peal, which consists of at least 1,260 changes and typically takes about 45 minutes to ring has now been rung by a band from the Suffolk Guild of Ringers. They rang on Friday 20th September 2013, details are available here. As well as being the first Quarter Peal on the restored bells, it was also the 1200 Quarter Peal as conductor by the band's conductor, Mike Whitby.
From left to right the ringers are:
Chris McArthur, Diana Pipe, Hilary Stearn, Mike Whitby, Pete Raffell Pippa Moss, Tim Stanford, Aisha Gilbert.
